Your Bio

I began taking pictures in 2000 when my brother bought me my first 35mm film camera following college graduation. In 2001 I started developing and printing black and white photos and eventually bought a 4x5 film camera (an old Crown Graphic) in order to make larger prints and experience more of the photographic process. I continued to take pictures while in graduate school traveling on the weekends to locations to fulfill my hobby. In 2007, my wife gave me a DSLR for my birthday and the pictures on this website are taken with my digital camera. I also continue to work with film cameras (mainly 4x5) because I like the tonal qualities of black and white film and I do not think digital monochromes are of any comparison. Whether it is in a darkroom or on a computer I love working with photos and I hope you enjoy them as well.

Thank you very much for taking the time to look at my photos, feel free to buy prints from my site, leave comments, etc. If you have any questions or wish to inquire about signed, matted prints feel free to contact me at jhevel@hotmail.com. Thanks again.
